OMNISCIENT – having complete or unlimited knowledge, awareness, or understanding; perceiving all things.

Omniscient is a word few people probably understand in its entirety or fullness and in no way am I claiming to be one of those people. However, I recently came across a passage of scripture that I have either never read or simply read over it in passing that made me tilt my head a bit. While most all believers would agree that Yahweh (God) is omniscient, there always remains certain questions that cannot be answered like, “If He knew this why did he let it happen?” Don’t get me wrong, I am not questioning His unlimited knowledge but this particular scripture would lead one to wonder. It takes place during the exile of Judah into Babylonian captivity and is shared with Jeremiah the prophet. Judah not only disobeyed Yahweh and wholeheartedly embraced sexual immorality of the Gentiles, they even went a step further. They allowed it into the church (Temple). It is amazing how history has the tendency to repeat itself.

Jeremiah 32:35 “And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.”

Apparently they committed a sin so vile, so disgusting, that it even shocked Yahweh (God). HUM!
